FPC Governing - Session, Commissions and Ministry Teams

if you're wondering who you can go to with an idea, this doc will help you get started. Here is a list, current as of April 19, 2009, of the Commissions and Ministry Teams of our church. Download the PDF.

What is a Ministry Team? Committee?

We have been talking about how we can optimize our structure so that more people are involved in ministry. The point is not just to get people into committees, but ministry teams. So, what is the difference between a committee and a ministry team? Read this article by Pastor Dave Weidlich: What is a Commission? What is a Ministry Team? (PDF).

Leadership Materials

Here you'll find many reference documents you need if you are an elder or a deacon. This information was provided on a CDR for officers, but you'll find updated links here for our consititution (Book of Confessions, Book of Order, and church bylaws), and of course our #1 Book - The Bible. Go to Resources for Church Leaders.

At some point, we may provide Session notes and presbytery, GA updates too.

Volunteers are Needed!

Volunteers are our greatest asset in the church and we always need more people to be strategically involved, using your skills and spiritual gifts for God's work through the church and various community services.

FPC Projects

Here you'll learn of various projects the church has undertaken - such as our Sanctuary Renovation Project (completed) and the related Building Fund (still being paid down). See where we are on each project. Other maintenance projects may be listed here. Many facilities projects are done by volunteers. See Ted Arntz to help.

Stained Glass Windows Project

Agape House was re-roofed Feb. 2, 2006
The Agapé (uh-Gah-pa) House, which houses Hope Counseling Services and FPC's nursery, received a new roof, Feb. 2006.
The much-needed project was jointly funded by Hope Counseling and FPC's Facilities budget.

New Roofs for Koinonia Hall and CE Wing

Roofs are leaking in Koinonia Hall and Fireside Room. The skylights over the CE wing pose a safety hazard. New roofs are badly needed to prevent further damage from leaking. The estimated cost will be $40,000. We hope to accomplish this task in 2006.

FPC's Next Building!

The church has several pressing needs that require a new building that would be constructed next to the patio, opposite the CE wing. The new building would house new, handicapped accessible restrooms, nursery, classrooms and offices. Two committees are currently working - one to ascertain our financial potential and the other to design a building that meets our most pressing needs. Read more about Bridge to the Future.
