Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Spotlight on MinistrySpotlight on Ministry: Outreach Ministry

Each month during 2006, we shined the spotlight on one of the vital ministries and missions of First Presbyterian Church. We hope this helps you get a clearer picture of what the church does and - if you are ready to volunteer - how you can help.

What We Do and Why:

Ever wonder what you could do to reach out to others between Sundays. We are the church, even when we’re not in church.

The Outreach Commission exists

Together with the Congregational Care Commission

Together with the Facility Commission

Our Vision-Goal for Evangelism lists as its first priority to develop effective outreach for discipling unchurched people by meeting physical and spiritual needs. Each of us has a gift, perhaps still un-tapped in reaching out to others.

Who is Involved:

A Connection Team makes phone calls to those visiting the church to welcome them and help them get connected.

Jeannette Anglin is the Elder to serve as the Chair of the Outreach Commission.

Volunteers Needed:

Jeannette is interested in knowing what you think the church could be doing in this area. I am also interested in knowing what you are doing to reach out to others in our community both at church and in your personal life. What you are doing may be a good example to share with others so they can do the same.

Please join me for a gathering of people who want to provide some input to our Outreach Program and who want to share best practices for Outreach. Or if you just want to attend to learn some outreach ideas from others, join us for the light lunch meeting at Noon on Sunday March 11 in the Fireside Room. Questions? Or to let me know you will be part of the gathering, call me, Jeannette Anglin.

Or call the church office: 762-8269 or email fpcpetaluma@sbcglobal.net

We have faith, but what are we doing with our faith?
