Lent & Easter PlansAsh Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent, March 9. Our choir led us in a time of worship. Seek God for the City is daily prayer guide, helping us first to seek God's face. Next we are praying for our city Maundy Thursday, April 21, 7 pm. Our communion service will be "Secret Church," in the style of the many underground churches throughout the world. What if we worshiped without the aid of bulletins, projectors, sound equipment, comfortable seats and expensive musical instruments? Would we be able to worship God? What if, instead of cultural incentives to worship and give, our nation was intent on weeding out Christians? In many churches around the world, the only ingredients for worship are Bibles, a few dim lights and people – quietly and secretly opening their hearts to God, hungry to hear from God and zealous to follow Christ anywhere. It’s not much different than Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. Maundy Thursday, we will celebrate communion in a style, reminiscent of many secret churches around the world. We will also pray for the persecuted church throughout the world. Don’t come to be entertained, but come ready tomeet with God in worship, unplugged, but powerful. Good Friday services, April 22. We will join other churches around the city for three services. 12:00 PM at Petaluma Valley Baptist Church, 580 Sonoma Mt. Pkwy, Petaluma These two services are more contemporary in style. Communion will be served. Call Calvary Chapel for more info: 707-766-1567. More at www.petalumacityministries.org

The Choir, singing in the 10:30 service, led by Kay Fish
Fourth at First Vespers Series
Join us for an evening of music and vespers on the Fourth Sunday of the month. Each month we feature a different kind of music, interspersed with a little prayer, a little meditation. We have enjoyed jazz from San Franciso and Sacramento, classical music from Liberty Valley Woodwind Quintet, and the energizing music of Black Gospel as sung by Wings of Glory and the Kingdom Travelers. More information.
You Can Be Involved in Worship & Music Ministries
[TOP] Sanctuary Choir
This spirited group of singers serves the 10:30 classic service by leading the congregation in praise songs and hymns, as well as preparing an anthem, or special music, for the offertory. Musical styles range from ancient music to modern, from classical to contemporary. New members are always welcome in this friendly group. Even if you haven't sung since high school, you can join us in praising God. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in, coincidentally, the Sanctuary from September until mid-June. Call the church to reach Kay Fish, the Choir Coordinator.
[TOP] Praise Band
The Praise Band leads worship and performs music for the 9:00 Contemporary Celebration Service. Call the church to reach Dean DiLello, Contemporary Music Coordinator.
[TOP] Audio-Visual-Lighting Team
The "AVL Team" serves both worship services by providing audio, video, and lighting support. The Video guys setup Powerpoint slides with the song verses, readings, audience responses, and images before for the worship services which they process during worship. The Sound guys ensure that all worship participants will have microphones, that instruments are connect and produce a pleasing sound. During the worship they operate the sound board and record the sermon for CDs, podcasts and audiotapes.
This team consists of 10-12 people who sign up for the Sundays they can serve. Contact Roger Johnson for video Don White for audio and lighting.
