Tents of Hope is making a difference by painting refugee-style tents. Churches, faith-communities, schools and businesses are "adopting” a tent for a week or two and gathering together children, youth and families to paint a section of the community tent. We are sending messages of peace and hope to our community, to Sacramento, to Washington, DC, and to displaced people in and around Sudan.
We have two community tents that will each travel separate routes around our city, from church to school to civic group. Each participating organization will have one or two weeks with a tent in which they will have a designated area – about 20 square feet - that is yours to paint. Either divide into one-foot squares for individuals to paint, or paint a large mural together. During your two weeks, you are encouraged to hold events for painting, raising awareness and raising funds for a Darfur relief agency of your choice. Include the tent in what you’re already doing – or set up separate events, it’s up to you.
Just choose a one or two week period of time that works well for your organization and reserve a tent for that time.
