Pillowcase Sewing Day
Saturday, September 14 10am-2pm, Koinonia Hall September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and that means it’s once again time for a Ryan’s Case for Smiles pillowcase sewing day! For over 10 years we have been having sewing days here at FPCP or in Santa Rosa. Thank you to the many of you that have ironed, sewed, donated fabric or funds to help provide pillowcases to children with cancer, other serious illnesses or injuries. Ryan’s Case for Smiles started with a simple goal: to create and distribute whimsical pillowcases that give children with cancer and other illnesses an emotional boost. Today our programs have expanded to include the child’s entire family to help them cope and avoid the long-term emotional trauma of a child’s illness. Each bagged pillowcase has a card included that explains how to connect with our programs. The pillowcases we sew are distributed to four Bay Area hospitals, a hospice, a pediatric sleep clinic, a summer camp hosting children with cancer, and an oncology center. Please bring a lunch; snacks and water will be provided. Bring scissors, your sewing machine, beige thread and join us in sewing beautiful, whimsical pillowcases that will brighten a child’s day! |
