Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women (PW) is the women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). At the heart of Presbyterian Women is the local group, providing an open environment for fellowship, prayer, and study in a place where all are loved and honored. Shared Bible study is central to the identity of PW, and women across the country engage in the same Bible study each year. Congregational groups provide a place to participate in mission projects, share spirituality practices, engage in mission and advocacy work, offer relational support to one another, and to build deep friendships and have a good time with friends.

PW at FPCP
The FPCP Presbyterian Women group was organized in the Spring of 2023, is open to all, and reflects the rich diversity of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and our local community. Meetings consist of an interactive Bible Study led by a member of the PW group, wonderful discussion and fellowship, light snacks, and a brief business meeting (as necessary).

PW Statement of Purpose
Everything we do as an organization and as a community is guided by our PW Purpose, and that includes ministry, resources and relationships.

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
  • to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
  • to support the mission of the church worldwide,
  • to work for justice and peace, and
  • to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Book Discussion:
Take This Bread, by Sara Miles

September 13th, 2025 at 10am
Fireside Room

Greetings Ladies! By now, most of you have received a copy of the book, Take This Bread, by Sara Miles. If not, let us know and we'll get you one. This is a “Save the Date” announcement only so put it on your calendar, please. Questions? Ask Ledra. [email protected]

More about the book...
Early one morning, for no earthly reason, Sara Miles, raised an atheist, wandered into a church, received communion, and found herself transformed–embracing a faith she’d once scorned. A lesbian left-wing journalist who’d covered revolutions around the world, Miles didn’t discover a religion that was about angels or good behavior or piety; her faith centered on real hunger, real food, and real bodies. Before long, she turned the bread she ate at communion into tons of groceries, piled on the church’s altar to be given away. Within a few years, she and the people she served had started nearly a dozen food pantries in the poorest parts of their city.

Take This Bread is rich with real-life Dickensian characters–church ladies, millionaires, schizophrenics, bishops, and thieves–all blown into Miles’s life by the relentless force of her newfound calling. Here, in this achingly beautiful, passionate book, is the living communion of Christ.

CHATing & Crafting:
Blankets for FPC Friends, Family and COTS

On Saturday, September 21, eleven Presbyterian women gathered in the Fireside Room to chat and craft. The emphasis was on the CHAT as we got to know each other better. We shared our bag lunches around the lunch table and enjoyed special desserts. Although two crafts had been planned, the group focused on creating knotted fleece blankets. In total, we completed fourteen fleece blankets that are being delivered to our FPC friends and family who are homebound. Any extras will be donated to COTS. A special thanks to Donna Wall, who completed several additional blankets at home! In addition, Ledra Brady took the scrap squares and made two quilts that she donated to Petaluma People Services Center. The two quilts will go out in one of the SAFE Team's vans and be donated to those in need. The project was inspired by our Bible study about Martha's encounter with Jesus, where we read that Jesus's presence is like a warm blanket.

FPCP Presbyterian Women meet the second Tuesday of each month at 5pm in the Fireside room. All women of FPCP are invited to join us!
